The Maxx, feeling story endings
I watched the rest of "The Maxx" last night. I had seen it in bits here and there back when YTV used to play alternative stuff late at night. At least, I think it was YTV. I was intrigued by the mystery of who everyone really was, of what happened to make them who they were. Turns out I had seen almost all of the series except for maybe the last hour or so, where much (but not all) is revealed. After taking it in, I looked it up and read how it differed from the graphic novel. Still, the animation and voice-acting was really well done. Do they have that kind of dramatic animation series these days? Outside of anime?
I visited my parents last week when I visited the dentist and my family doctor. We had dinner on the new patio my dad had recently finished, which is actually fairly impressive. Eating outside seemed so foreign to me, something I'd never done there although apparently they do it all the time during the summer. I dunno, I thought it was neat.
I was for some reason thinking about the ending to Lone Wolf and Cub, and contemplating how strongly the ending stayed with me. Hmmm.. I guess it was because I am nearing the end of the last of the Aubrey-Maturin books. The ending to LWaC was just so perfect, so very fitting and .. well, it's hard to describe. Timeless, it stretches your sense of the world, or rather it shines a beacon to a world that exists only in the mind, a beacon so bright it feels just as real, just as important as anything tangible. It is much the same sensation I get when I think about the Star Trek: TNG episode "The Inner Light", a beautiful story by my reckoning.
So I STILL don't have a cellphone, and no word yet on mine turning up or anything. I ordered voice-mail for my landline, so at least people can now leave me messages. I'm kind of shopping for cellphone and possibly cellphone plans, though I was rather happy with paying less than $40 a month after taxes and charges. True, I would very much enjoy a modern phone, one with a camera and reasonable text-messaging abilities. Well, soon enough....
