Bruised rib, bruised ego

So I went and done a dumb thing and got my ribs smashed in. Er, sorry, just a little kick, you know, nothing serious -- nothing broken. I did have a terrible time sleeping, which depended a lot on me staying very still, a skill I developed in university when I used to lay out my study notes on my bed and leave a sliver of mattress for me to sleep on. Anyway, I went to the nearby hospital (St. Joseph's Health Center), which has some really nice modern facilities. Unfortunately, it also has really long wait times -- it took me over five hours in total from walking in, leaving my name, registering, waiting to see a nurse, waiting to see a doctor, waiting to give a blood and urine sample, waiting for several x-rays, and then waiting again to see a doctor about the results. Like I said, nothing broken, though it looks like my liver may have been damaged. In any case, I'm going back tomorrow/Tuesday for an ultrasound.

The famous kick happened during a little sparring thing we had going on in Waterloo, there being just the three of us. At the time I wasn't sure that it was serious, so in my foolhardiness I kept going. Yeah, that was dumb. Man, it's been a pretty busy weekend, considering that I didn't really plan anything. I had to kind of hurry back to Toronto to see the late show of The Bourne Ultimatum, which was fairly underwhelming. Much the same as The Bourne Supremacy, and I think they even had the same director, with his fondness of blurry action scenes which tired me right out. I had expected a lot more than was delivered. Ah well. At least I got to see the trailer for the new Cronenberg film, which looks quite delicious. Cronenberg and Mortensen are quickly becoming my favourite director/actor duo!
